EMMY NOZOMY
AGE: 21
CLAIM TO FAME: Voice actress
FAVOURITE ANIME: Adolescence of Utena
A college student on the East Coast, Emmy leads a bizarre dual life.
Half the time she is a voice actress in American anime, a cynical
young initiate among the Inexplicable Con Personalities. Her
adventures make Dr. Who's look rather normal, and her ability to take
on the peculiar powers of her cosplay-sakes makes her the bane of con
crashers everywhere. When she's not at cons, however, she is a much
more private and studious person, with a few secrets she'd really
rather didn't get around.
ADRIAN CEILING
AGE: 24
CLAIM TO FAME: Indie animator
FAVOURITE ANIME: Classic Macross
Emmy's boyfriend of three years - which is, incidentally, how long she
has been going to cons. He's an anime artist and the creator of the
cult indie anime "Magical Trucker Girls." Generally nice, always very
well-meaning, but undeniably a gimp. Unfortunately, he's also so
pitiful that it's very hard to hold him accountable when something
goes amiss. Despite her built-in cynicism, even Emmy has a hard time
setting him right.
MIMI SINCLAIR
AGE: 18
CLAIM TO FAME: Emmy and Adrian's friend
FAVOURITE ANIME: Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon
A high-school senior, and Emmy's best friend since the two were
knee-high to a DDR machine. Cute, confident, and surprisingly ecchi,
Mimi has a talent for latching on to the worst possible guy out of a
crowd of thousands. It was actually Mimi who got Emmy to go to her
first con, which I suppose means that this whole webcomic is her
fault. As if her sheer cuteness and general lack of mental muscle
weren't scary enough, add to this the fact that she's a crack shot
with most prop guns and has the very random ability of being able to
turn into Lady Une. Woo.
SETSUMEI HIRU
AGE: 22
CLAIM TO FAME: Taking over cons
FAVOURITE ANIME: Lupin III (original series)
Every American-based anime series has to have at least one requisite
nihonjin -- this is ours. Hiru has trained since his childhood in the
ancient ways of the samurai, and what does he have to show for it?
Zantetsuken. Don't ask how he got it. He has come to the States to
stake his claim as an Inexplicable Con Personality using his own
underhanded methods, since he has leads stating that American otaku
are weak and impressionable. Emmy is the one person standing in his
way, but he has a strangely strong respect for her that may be
something more. Or not.
GAVIN NOZOMY
AGE: 8
CLAIM TO FAME: Shoutakom bait
FAVOURITE ANIME: Digimon
Gavin's got several things going for him to make him one of the cutest little cosplayers on the
con circuit: a British accent, honest innocence, and his family's pronounced fanginess. He's an
avid CCG collector and player, but is curious about the world of conventions at large. No
worries; Emmy has every intention of introducing him to it. One does wonder, though, about his
unseen parents. Or maybe one doesn't. No one really gets good vibes from the way Gavin talks
about them.
FANGIRL
AGE: 16
CLAIM TO FAME: Evil incarnate
FAVOURITE ANIME: Fushigi Yuugi
Don't be misled by her innocent appearance. Beneath that genki schoolgirl exterior beats the heart of a cruel, cold, unscrupulous succubus. Her crimes against fandom are as varied as they are disgusting. No male con personality (especially not Rob Lantz) is safe from her all-encompassing grasp. If you ever encounter this loathsome, hideous creature, run as fast as you can, and contact the nearest staff member.
ZIGGY CRAWFORD
AGE: 27
CLAIM TO FAME: Staff
FAVOURITE ANIME: Bubblegum Crisis
Let's clear up a little misconception. Ziggy isn't Adrian. First off, he can't draw (not that that's stopped some artists, eh, pets?). Secondly, he's not dating Emmy -- there's a rumour that he might be secretly married to Mona, but who knows these days. Thirdly, Ziggy takes far too much joy in getting phenomenally sloshed and mooning the Japanese guests. So who IS Ziggy? He is Staff. That's all you need to know.
MONA DARLING
AGE: 25
CLAIM TO FAME: Staff
FAVOURITE ANIME: Initial D
Mona is something of a Jeeves to Ziggy's Wooster, somehow managing to keep both of them looking competent and respectable. If there's no way of them both escaping unscathed, however, she'll generally leave him to fend for himself. Together, the two of them can be a fabulous source of information for Emmy and Co. on a good day. On a bad day ... well, don't expect too much.
